Self-tuning control is a good-performance technology for real time control in recent years. There are a lot of advantages of this control technology such as automatic to distinguish parameters of the controlled object, automatic to tune parameters of the controller, and adaptive to change with the process parameters, which make it become a perfect control technology.In this thesis, adaptive control is put forward on the basis of studying existing control method and system engineering is applied to the development of the control system of stretch-bending machine. The feasibility and requirement of adaptive control applied to the control system are analysized. The model of the hydraulic servo system is created, simplified and dispersed. According to the characteristics and problems that exist in the control system of stretch-bending machine at present, the self-tuning control with pole placement is firstly introduced, which establishes the theoretical foundation for the development and research of the intelligent control system of the stretch-bending machine. Meanwhile, the algorithm of control is simulated and the result is analyzed. In addition, the spot test and the analysis of the result have been done on the basis of the software and hardware control system of stretch-bending machine.A distributing hardware control system of the stretch-bending machine is designed by combining the advanced industry control computer and PLC (Programmable Logic controller). Based on clarified the requirements of the functions, the configuration and the method to realization of the hardware control system are provided.Using the open and modular structure designs the software control system of stretch-bending machine based on the Windows operating system. Software architecture is analyzed, functional model is decomposed, parts of models are designed and accomplished, and some running examples are given.
