Abstract/Summary:
Medical Visualization is the visualizing techniques applied to the medicine. Surface rendering and volume rendering are two kinds of displaying techniques in Medical Visualization. Furthermore volume rendering is a whole new method compared with the traditional rendering techniques. This paper discusses the Medical Visualization based on volume rendering, which is a hot topic in related fields. The work and achievements completed in this paper consists of:1. Analysis and implementation of volume rendering based on ray castingThe related work includes algorithm principle, implementation pipeline and accelerated techniques. The computer implementation is based on two sets of medical data (CT, MRI). At the same time, this paper analyses different interpolating and compositing methods respectively.2. The building and calculating of illumination modelDue to several problems about realistic rendering, this paper presents how to build and calculate the illumination models. A numerical result is then concluded. At the,end of this section, this paper implements illumination processing in volume rendering based on OPEN GL by testing a set of skull medical data.3. Presenting a medical visualization testing systemThis system adopts the volume rendering based on ray casting algorithms and also makes the use of the traditional surface rendering method. The specialty of this system lies in the interface for controlling the sub algorithms of rendering pipeline. According to different needs, users can process freely like choosing interpolating and compositing algorithms, choosing viewing direction and manipulating the opacity value etc.; The design of system is based on independent models, therefore it's easy to be extended. For those functions possible applicable in the future can be integrated through pre-defined interfaces in the system.
