The Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) is developped very fast in recent years, and it has broad applications in the field of power electronic Conversion technique, This paper aims at the realization of variable-frequency induction motor speed modulation systems and Multiplex PWM Generator based on CPLD.CPLD have advantages of the high frequency, large scale and the feature of ISP (in system programming), which make it easier and faster to design control systems. We can realize a control system based CPLD; the control system also can be realized based CPLD and MCU or DSP, Thus interior resources of CPLD are saved. Furthermore, CPLD design is the necessary step for the verification of ASIC design. In this paper, this functions are visible by some applications based CPLD.In the first chapter, the general situation and developing tendency of CPLD is presented. Several EDA technology-developing phases are as well introduced. Finally, the advantages of CPLD in the power electronic Conversion technique area are discussed.In the second chapter, techniques of variable-frequency AC drivers and some corresponding techniques are introduced, with regard to their development and application. SPWM, SVPWM are introduced in detail. Furthermore, CPLD design process of SPWM and SVPWM speed adjusting system is shown, including design idea, detailed scheme and logic timing analysis. Finally, the experiments are shown.In the third chapter, the principle and the application occasion of Multiplex PWM Generator are introduced, the design method of Multiplex PWM Generator based CPLD is presented in detail.In the fourth chapter, the application of Multiplex PWM Generator is researched. The Multiplex PWM Generator based CPLD is connected to MCU and DSP, the PWM waveforms are shown. Furthermore , this PWM waveforms are applied to the Multilevel Converters, the results demonstrate the feasibility of the application.In the fifth chapter, a simple summarization about the thesis is made. The meaning of this applications is discussed. Finally, the developing perspective of this research is looked forward.
