With the development of network and derivative technology, the traditional CAD has remarkably changed into a new subject. The thesis comprehensively summarizes the web-based CAD, one of the new development of CAD. It explains relevant conception and application domain and expatiates the leading research content and developing trend. At last, with the conception and thought of web-based CAD, the thesis gives a necktie pattern CAD system based on web.According to the requirement of practical necktie pattern color-matching technique, the system implements an easy-operating color-matching method to help pattern designers. Using the pattern recognition and knowledge of clay modeling, the system make it true to simulate designed pattern on selected model. This technique provides an effective way to check the designed pattern without producing a real necktie. Users can select the proper necktie model picture according to the requirements of fashion and the pattern. Through a series of easy operations, the picture can be converted into a necktie model. This system applies C/S structure including two clients (User client and Clerk Client) and one server. The server is responsible for the authentication of clients, for dynamically creating the conversation between two clients and for transmitting text or image information. This thesis introduces the concerned knowledge about network, gives the system information flow and detailed communication protocol. The features of this thesis: 1) Designed a necktie pattern CAD system based on web. 2) Developed an easy-operating color-matching arithmetic. 3) Users are able to design their own simulation model. And solved the big pattern problem in simulation.
