Short Message delivery based on PSTN is a new technology that allows the transfer of Short Message between two fixed network terminals, or between one fixed network terminal and one mobile terminal. By this technology, the users of fixed network can get information more conveniently. This paper mainly introduces the protocols and technical specifications of Short Message Terminal Equipment (SM-TE), and presents an integrated solution for SM-TE system that includes particular layout of hardware platform and software modules. The hardware platform supports FSK upload that is not required in standard SM-TE system configuration, this makes data transfer more rapid. In the aspect of software, the SM-TE system uses μC/OS-П Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) that simplifies the design of software modules and improves the stability of the system. In last chapter, this paper discusses how to adapt the μC/OS-П real-time kernel to the hardware system, which is also applicable to other systems based on MCS51 microprocessor. The testing results of the SM-TE system indicate that the integrated solution is reasonable and applicable.
