Compared with microwave communication, space optical communication has much superiority: much greater communication capability, narrow beam, good direction, much greater power density functions , lesser antenna size and whole mass , and high capability of anti-electromagnetism and secrecy. Because of its high function-price ratio, under the condition of transmitting same information and same data rate, it is very fit for high data transmission ratio between satellite and satellite, satellite and space shuttle, and so on. So each country attaches important attention to space optical communication.The simulation of optical communication between data relay satellites is an important content of the research project of the optical communication between data relay satellites. According to the high technique task about space optical communication arranged by relative department of government, this paper present theoretic analysis , modeling and simulation for the whole system.The characteristics and superiority of laser optical communication technology used in free space is presented in the paper. The application foreground as well as development trend about the space optical communication are introduced. Then the main structure, integral parts and detailed work process of space optical communication are narrated, especially, the key technologies are discussed. The chapter of theoretical analysis and modeling includes baseband signal , coding, modulation, as well as optical electric transform, demodulation, decoding, the recovery of baseband signal.According to the request of the whole system, we have studied three possible schemes for long wavelength and short wavelength, finished correlative analysis and comparison, and presented the conclusion. This paper concludes the result of computer simulation of data relay satellite optical communication channel, playing a part of the system research of data relay satellite optical communication, and completed the theoretic analysis, modeling and simulation. Furthermore, we proved the feasibility of space satellites optical communication.
