Because of its wide bandwidth, high data rate, good secrecy and lower power consumption, space optical communications have become new direction in space communication development, and has good application foreground. So many country attaches importance to research in the space optical communication. But narrow laser beam results in many technical challenges in beam pointing, so Acquisition Tracking Pointing (ATP) technology research becomes especially important.The paper is based on the research about space optical communication. Because of the superiority of digital control technology compared with analog control technology, the paper aims at researching necessity and feasibility about applying digital control technology in ATP of optical communication link.Firstly, the application foreground as well as development trend about the space optical communication are introduced. Then the main structure, integral parts and detailed work process of space optical communication are narrated, especially, the key technologies are discussed. In view of ATP's importance, in a separate paper, its key technologies are discussed, and ATP's main parameters are detailedly introduced. Considering that suppressing vibration is a difficulty of space optical communication, so suppressing methods of vibration are simply discussed in the paper. Finally, the paper's emphasis is designing ATP fine pointing control loop using basic concept and developing simulation research.In the paper, ATP implementation scenario adopts composite axis servo system structure, fine pointing part is designed in direct design method of digital control and the method of analog design discretization, and applies it to whole ATP to develop system simulation research, gives simulation result, and proves design's correctness and feasibility of using digital control.
