With the rapid development of the new computing technologies, Finite Element Analysis has been a necessary part of mechanical engineering design and analysis, and it also has been an extension of the Computer Aided Design. Then , the data transformation between Finite Element Analysis software and CAD software has become an urgent need in the development of FEA software.This paper mainly discusses the data transformation of the finite element model from CAD/CAM software (UG) to FEA software (SAMCEF). After the study of both UG and SAMCEF systems as well as the data transformation methods between them, it's feasible to transform the finite element model based on UG According to the order of Software Engineering and the given environment of the software and the hardware, the paper puts forward the overall structure and the data flow of the interface system. Then, it focuses on how to transform the mesh, material, loads and boundary conditions of the finite element model, and has developed the data transformation interface system of finite element model from UG to SAMCEF.The data transformation interface system presented in this paper is absolutely feasible and effective to transform the finite element model data through the analysis of several examples. The research of this paper has improved the modeling of SAMCEF, and has solved the problem about the data transformation between UG and SAMCEF.
