The computer control of loom is the inexorable developing trend of the textile industry. This paper is mainly about the reliability and the improvement of the computer control system of the shaft loom, including the design of the reliability for the computer control system, the development of the fault diagnosis, the software and hardware design of the loom controller system with encoder, the let-off controller with stepper motor.On the base of former graduates' research, an improvement of the reliability analysis and fault diagnosis for the system is put forward by the author. Power-on Self-Test is realized. It can detect fault and provide fault code in time. These improve reliability and testability of the system to a considerable degree. Redundancy controller of the key link and the weak link is realized under the present situation. The multi-model way of system for sensor faults diagnosis and detects is provided according to the special character of the system. It can give an alarm signal and fault code when the system goes wrong. It can rapidly find the fault on the ground of fault tree and fault code. In order to reduce production costs, the stepper motor is applied to let-off controller instead of the import AC Servomotor. A double closed loop (let-off loop and velocity loop) control methods for the let-off controller are discussed, the parameter for applying PID in let-off system is also given. The settle of this problem will give much reference to the later loom development.The reliability and the cost of the production have a great effect on the use and popularization of the production. It plays a crucial effect on the market accreditation. Some conclusions of the paper have somewhat post values of theory reference and engineer realization for the improvement of this model loom.
