The present situation of the automatic technology application of the centralized heating system is reviewed in this paper, especially the running situation and problems of automatic control system of the heat - exchanger unit in the thermal station, the important significance of designing new type computer control system of the heat - exchanger unit is expatiated. The chief aim of the this paper is to establish the mathematical model of the working process of the heat-exchanger unit and to apply generalized predictive control theory to studying the principle? characteristics and law of GPC system of the heat-exchange unit.First, the dynamics characteristics of the heat - exchanger unit is analyzed carefully by using the knowledge of the fluid dynamics and heat transfer etc . , and makes some reasonable simplicities and assumptions. So it establishes the mathematical model of the working process of the heat-exchange unit, and applies the recurrence parameter estimator to identifying and proving. The CARMA or CARIMA model of the heat - exchanger unit is obtained. The model presented in this paper is of some practical value for the study of the heat-exchanger unit.According to the characteristics of the thermal processing plant and problems of traditional PID control, based on knowing about the productive technological requirements and the GPC theory fully, the author makes full use of measurement technology and computer technology to design and study the GPC system of water supply temperature of the heat - exchanger unit. With the help of Matlab system tool , simulating this GPC system. Simulation research has powerfully proved that generalized predictive control can be applied to thermal processing control and get better control quality. The simulation results presented in this paper is of some reference basis for optimizing the heat-exchanger unit operation and developing new route of raising heating quality, energy saving and consumption reducing.Besides, the author has calculated and selected the type of component part of GPC system of the heat - exchanger unit, including sensor , transmitter , A / D, D / A , actuator etc . , and organized them correctly. In the meantime, the author has also determined the anti -disturbing measure to make the GPC system of the heat - exchanger unit work properly.
