Small- and medium-sized businesses can not been substituted in the development of our economy. They should be supported by Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) to enhance their market competition. However, the application of CAPP in the small- and medium-sized businesses are restricted by their poor purchasing power, high cost and long cycle during building, using and maintaining CAPP system. In this dissertation, the architecture and key techniques of CAPP system for Application Service Provider (ASP) are described; theory and methodology of CAPP software development have been lodged that is fit for small-and medium-sized businesses. The key issues studied and conclusions deduced in the dissertation are as follows:1. By means of the analysis of the actuality and requirements of computer aided process planning and small- and medium-sized businesses, the conclusion has been conducted that CAPP systems have to be developed with the distributed, reconfigurable, reusable characteristics and ASP becomes the best mode of applying CAPP in the small- and medium-sized businesses.2. The architecture of CAPP system for ASP, the CAPP services being provided to small- and medium-sized businesses, the mechanism of data deposit and security about the CAPP services are presented.3. Based on the illustration of data transactional relation between CAPP system and other software in this project, the integrated method by XML is presented.4. Based on analyzing the diversity of businesses' requirements in the CAPP system, the rapid reconfigurable technique is put forward that include designing the modules and components of CAPP system and coding these components.5. This dissertation presents the method applying J2EE to building CAPP system and discusses the design of prototype system.
