Clause Based On The Cfm Chinese Semantic Analysis

Natural language understanding is a classic problem in AI, and there are many researches about NLU in the world. But above all, the foundation about the Chinese text understanding is very weak, and there is still no any successful semantic analyzing system, and it does not exist a perfect semantic representation framework. So, in our research, we seek a method to analyze the Chinese text by combining world knowledge and linguistic knowledge.In the research, we take the Chinese clause as the object, and extract the Chinese Functional Model(CFM) using Systemic Functional Grammar as the theory to analyze the clause's ideational metafunction. In CFM, there exists the semantic knowledge about Chinese clause and it includes the semantic modes which are the basic modes used to represent the human's experience, and the elementary concepts which are the components of semantic mode. We use the semantic modes in the CFM as the framework for the representation of Chinese clause's semantics.Based on the CFM, we describes a CFM driven semantics analyzing algorithm, it analyzes Chinese clause for semantics, using semantic analyzing as primary one, and syntax analyzing as secondary one: firstly, it estimate the clause's semantic mode by looking through the words appearing in the clause; secondly, it analyzes the functional components in the clause, using the restriction in the semantic mode; finally, it constructs the semantics of clause using the semantic modes as the framework.The world knowledge needed in the algorithm is included in Ontology, and lexical knowledge in the Semantic Lexicon. Ontology is a conceptual description of the world, Ontology will be used for ambiguity resolution and inference and Semantic Lexicon will be used for analyzing the clause's functional component.Around the algorithm, we design and implement a CFM based Chinese clause analyzing system. It's a knowledge based Chinese understanding system, using world knowledge and linguistic knowledge to analyze Chinese clause.This paper will introduce the system as a whole firstly, and then describe each knowledge base and the analyzing algorithm in the system, and in the last, it will turn to the implementation of the system.
