The development in database system since 1970's from primitive file processing systems has progressed from early hierarchical and network database system to the development of relational database system, where data are stored in relational table structures.The fast-growing, tremendous amount of data, collected and stored in large and numerous databases, has far exceeded our human ability for comprehension without new technology. The abundance of data, coupled with the need for powerful data processing methods, has been descried as a "data rich but information poor" situation. Data warehouse can resolve the knot, which can be viewed as a result of the nature evolution of information technology.According to W. H. Inmon, "a data warehouse is a subject-oriented, time-variant, non-volatile and integrated collection of data in support of management's decision making process. Data warehouse is a repository of multiple heterogeneous data sources , organized under a unified schema at a site in order to facilitate data processing .Building a data warehouse technology includes data extracting, data transformation, data loading, and On-line Analytical Processing ( OLAP ). Data warehouse and OLAP tools are based on a multidimensional data model. This model views data in a form of data cube, which allows data to be modeled and viewed in multiple dimensions.This paper mainly focuses on the engineering of 3-tier structure (DB-ODS-DW) dw warehouse, We have completed 6 model design. They are throughput, the management of container, the management of fixed assets, the management of supply of goods etc. This paper bring forward 6-rule based on information package, which includes conception model design, logicmodel design and physics model design and method of system design based on data-drive . We have implemented two subject in computer system, which are throughput, the management of container. The method of modeling based on information package and 6-rule have high degree of engineering and have capability to express the model explicitly.This paper bring forward the framework suitable for building the 3-tier ( DB-ODS-DW ) dw warehouse, which can overcome the shortcomings in the 2-tier (DB-DW).
