Electrostatic charge is a very potential dangerous factor to the safe shipment of oil. When filling, emptying and cleaning the vessels or oil tankers, there're many potential factors can cause electrostatic ignition and explode. The process of the accumulation, with great uncertainness, of electrostatic charge is so complicated that it is very difficult to be simulated. So, at the present time, all these operations on the shipment of oil are acted on the safety laws, technique rules or strict operation instructions. From the view of control, a real-time monitor and control system for avoiding electrostatic ignition and explode based on wavelet neural networks (WNN) is presented in this paper In this system, one WNN is applied to modeling the process of the accumulation of electrostatic charge. It's forbidden to measure the space potential or the oil surface potential of electrostatic charge in the vessels directly, so by this WNN model, the estimation of the potential can be evaluated. Another WNN is applied as the controller to modeling the converse process of the accumulation of electrostatic charge The output of this WNN controller is the input of executors. As numbers of matrix operations are included in the realization of WNN arithmetic, the advanced microprocessor梔igital signal processor (DSP) is employed as the core of the hardware of this system to satisfy the speed requirement of real-time monitor and control system. The DSPs are fast microprocessors optimized for the real-time signal processing A TMS320C5402 DSP with an operation speed of 100 MIPS is used in this system to implement WNN arithmetic. The safety requirement and the efficiency requirement of operations of oil are all satisfied. On the other hand, a control system of inert gases is also designed in this paper. This control system is a fuzzy control system based on safety operation instructions and experts' experiences. A very significant character of fuzzy control is no need of precise mathematic model of the systems being controlled By simulated on the computer, the control system appears very good effectiveness and satisfies all the technical requirements. This is a feasible system.
