Management of material and its cost is important to reduce the cost and to increase the management efficiency in the petroleum company, so it is meaningful to study how to do. Based on demands and real conditions of Shengli Oilfield Dongsheng Oil Co.. The theory and methods such as the coding management, management of material, and cost analysis so on were applied to put forward the reasonable solutions to management of material and its cost. The main research that have been done are as followed:1 The rational and advanced code database of material and the management system was brought forward and designed to solve the problems that statistics of material and cost is not identical to the real conditions in the former management system of material in the Dongsheng Co. .2 Based on the researches on inventory management of Dongsheng Co., some operation management modules were designed and realized in inventory management.3 Based on study of real conditions of suppliers' management of Dongsheng Co., supplier' s management system was designed and realized.4 Based on deep study of material cost analysis and control, the analysis model of cost structure was put forward to apply to analyze the material cost of Dongsheng Co..5 The support decision system was designed and realized to aid the supper manager to manage the material and its cost.It is important to analyze and design the reasonable management system of material and its cost. And some innovative researches have been done on designing coding system, analyzing material cost and designing the assistant decision modules. So the developed system has been doing well.
