Corba-based Workflow Management System - The Design And Realization Of The Workflow Engine

Workflow Engine,the most important part of Workflow Management System,is responsible for workflow processes execution according to workflow process models defined by modeling tools. And it also assigns right task to right people who has right roles to enable high work efficiency.By analyzing workflow standards issued by WfMC and OMG,corresponded design and implementation for workflow engine are presented. This is the core part of "CORBA based Workflow Management System".The main work of the thesis is as follows:1) Implementation of process execution according to workflow process models standardized by xpdl.dtd.2) Design and implementation of activity scheduler optimized by thread pool technology. Resource manager for allocation and recycling about human based on roles is also shown.3) Design and implementation of communication that is needed when executing workflow processes,both in local and in distribute environment. The later is base on CORBA Structured Event Service.The organization of this thesis is as follows. Chapter 1 is a general introduction of workflow technology. Chapter 2 analyzes Workflow Reference Model and OOD technology used to design the system. Chapter 3,4 and 5,the main parts of the thesis,discuss the implementation of the three points above in detail. Chapter 6 is a conclusion,which analyzes the weak points of the system.
