Illegal calling party number (CLI) between different telecom carriers has created enormous charging dissensions and calling party number display problems. Therefore, it has become an urgent necessity for carriers to realize the Calling Party Number (CLI) differentiation and transformation on exchang office. This article focuses on the research of methods to realize CLI differentiation and transformation. Firstly, the author probes into significance of CLI differentiation and transformation, presents three different proposals, and addresses virtues and drawbacks of each one. One highlight is the use of reverse translator to realize CLI differentiation and transformation, which is a successful example of reverse thinking. This method solves the illegal calling party number problems effectively, and in addition, it solves the overmuch legal CLIs between carriers without expanding the office data structure table. The virtues of this method include powerful CLI transformation function, small program size, low R&D expense, etc.Secondly, based on the reverse translator method of realizing CLI differentiation and transformation, the author has comprehensively designed input and output formats of the instruction set, modified call processing flow and signal processing flow, as well as means of how to manage under malfunction. Thirdly, again based on the reverse translator method of realizing CLI differentiation and transformation, the author has exhaustively described the proposed functionality. Systematic steps of verification have been performed to prove and utilize this functionality.
