As a free open network operating system, RedHat Linux inevitably has somepotential security hazards. How to get rid of these hidden danger, and utilize it aslocal LAN platform of scientific research institutions(the second network nodes ofCSTNet), hence to offer secure network service and secure network parallelcomputation service is the subject that is worth studying. Needing to reflect itscharacteristic as one of the ten major China Internet system, CSTNet should notonly provide common secure network service to its scientists and researchers butalso should combine the supercomputing service. These service should beprovided all by its cell unit(each second network node) independently in their ownways. However, those nodes which totally based on RedHat Linux are few, thosecan utilize RedHat to offer secure network parallel computation service are fewer. The thesis is committed to the study of the construction and the security ofRedHat network service and network parallel computation system. The systemincludes secure servers such as dns, mail, www, ftp etc. and a software firewall. There is also a network parallel computation cluster in the system. All of theservers, firewall and cluster are based on RedHat Linux. The thesis emphasizeespecially on the security, easy rebuilding and seamlessly data recovering (withoutuser's intervening). The system is proposed to the Fuzhou node, one of the secondnetwork node of CSTNet. It has been offering secure network service to 600 localscientific researchers and some other Internet users. The network parallelcomputation cluster inside the system has been applied to carry on magnanimitysupercomputing of quantum chemistry by researchers in the state key laboratory ofstructure chemistry. It is highly appraised by experts and users.
