The moisture content of the textile fiber influenced every properties of the fiber. Its transport and storage and the textile-product technology process, and thus, the quality of the textile product were restricted. To test the moisture content of the fiber was a common tested item in the course of the purchase and storage of the fiber and textile production. At the present, the common methods for testing the moisture content of the textile were the oven method and the direct-current resistance method. Because the former test results were stable and accurate, it was the nation's standard method and arbitration basis. The latter was convenient and fast, and therefore, it was commonly applied when the moisture content of the textile was determined in the department for purchasing the cotton fiber and the cotton-tested laboratory of the textile enterprise. But the former consumed energy and cost time and unfavorable for the quick-test situation. The stability, accuracy and interchangeability of the former were worse, and therefore, its use was limited. The textile industry has been expecting that a quick, accurate and well-interchangeability instrument for quickly testing the moisture content of the fiber be put on the market.In the dissertation, on the basis of analyzing the electric and dielectric conductivity, the bathtub effect of the alternating conductivity of the fiber was verified by the test. With the theory analysis, its organism was obtained, and therefore, the theory basis and item's choose were provided for testing the moisture content of the fiber in the alternating-resistance method. Based on the theory research, the moisture content of the fiber was determined by the alternating-resistance method and the system design for the practical test circuit was accomplished. The contrast test was processed on eight kinds of cotton fiber, one assortment of ramie and one assortment of glue fiber by two methods respectively, the factors, which influenced the test results, were obtained and the feasible method was put forward. On the basis of the regression analysis of the test results, the regression equation between the moisture content of the fiber and the regain was established. The relative and square error analysis of mathematical statistics was applied to analyze and examine the reliability of the regression equation. That the regression equation was established provided the basis for the data transfer and process.The dissertation was composed of six paragraphs.The first paragraph (introduction): The moisture absorption character of the fiber was discussed. It was analyzed that the moisture content influenced the machining quality of the fiber. The significance of the moisture content test of the fiber was putforward in the items of the fiber test. The common test methods on the moisturecontent of the fiber were introduced. The main job of the dissertation was briefly shown.The second paragraph (the alternating resistance characters on the textile fiber): Based on deeply analyzing the electric and dielectric conductivity of the fiber, the defects of the direct-current-resistance method were pointed out. The alternating resistance method was adopted to test the moisture content of the fiber, the bathtub effect on the alternating conductivity, which insisted in the fiber, was verified, the sensitive frequency band of measuring the moisture content of the fiber was acquired, and the dielectric polarization theory was applied, the organism of the bathtub effect of the alternating conductivity of the fiber was gained.The third paragraph (the design of the new instrument for quickly testing the moisture content of the fiber): By the alternating resistance character of the textile, the new instrument for quickly testing the moisture content of the fiber was designed.
