Network teaching system is a new teaching system. It changed the method of traditional teaching. It can improve the teaching' s efficiency and student' s enthusiasm.The paper's goal is to introduce a multimedia network teaching system that has high real time process and high extensibility. In this paper, we mainly discussed the designs of system' s application program that includes manage program, audio communication program, video synchronize broadcast program.We first analysed the medium access control method of LAN, and put forward a network structure that has double token chain bus for system' s reliability and real time process. Then, we analysed the system' s function, and put forward a whole structure of application program for extensibility. In the structure, the application program is made up of several separate programs. Basing on system' s structure and program' s structure, we discussed the designs of three application programs of multimedia network teaching system, fn the design of manage program, we discussed the designs of some main function blocks and basic data tables and frame structures of manage program. In the design of audio communication program, we first introduced audio capture and playback using DirectSound, then discussed the designs of function blocks in voice capture and transmission thread and voice receive and playback thread. In the design of video synchronize broadcast program, we first introduced video play using DirectShow, then discussed the designs of function blocks of the teacher' s video program and the student' s video program basing on system' s request.It is proved that the design of system is successful by actual testing.
