The history of publishing is also the history of technology development. With the advent of information technology, traditional publishing faces comprehensive challenges from information carrier to content. The trend of traditional publishing and how to develop electronic publishing have become the hottest topic in publishing circle nowdays. And that is also what this article concerns.So the purposes of this research could be explained as:1) Find out the trend of electronic publishing and traditional publishing at theory level;2) Get the accute present status of electronic publishing in China at statistics level;3) Discuss what publishing industry of China should do in short term and in long term.As to the detailed content, this article has four parts:Chapter 1 includes preface and the narration of research fabric and methods;Chapter 2 is discussion on trend of trational publishing and electronic publsihing at theory level. It mainly inludes the interaction analysis between trational publishing and electronic publishing. Also this part includes some theory conclusions which are deduced from interaction analysis. Charpter 3 is mainly about statistic analysis of electronic publshing. This part is based on the questionaire of 'the Internet usage and online reading status of residences' which is carried in 9 cities. The analysis include several parts, such as consumer behavior, online reading status and ebook reading devices etc.Charpter 4 concerns about strategies that publishing industry of China should take. This part analysis is carried by the method of SWOT(strength, weakness, opportunity and threat).
