Support The Dynamic Modification Of Workflow Management System Design And Implementation,

With the rapid expansion of Internet and Intranet, some kinds of software systems have been greatly evolved, especially the Workflow Management System, WfMS. The main intension of WfMS is the automation of procedures where documents, information or tasks are passed between participants according to a predefined set of rules to achieve an overall business goal.There have been a lot of productions of WfMS nowadays. But in most of these productions, it is not allowed to change the workflow except in build time. However, with the expansion of enterprise and rapid changes of market requirement, more and more workflows are no longer static procedures. They need to make some dynamic modifications to react to all kinds of new requirements in run time. And adaptive workflow is one of the most important techniques that we need in order to improve the flexibility of WfMS.After a study on adaptive workflow, we propose a method based on mini-operation set. We also propose a rule set which make some restrictions to dynamic modify operations in order to assure the Tightness and data consistency of workflow. Moreover, we use model check and rollback mechanism to weaken wrong changes' effect on the WfMS. We discuss the design and implementation of Dynamic Modify Tool and Enactment Service Subsystem of AdaptiveFLOW, which is a workflow management system with support of adaptive workflow. We expect that our work will do some help in the Adaptive Workflow Management System on both scientific and utility aspect.
