In this thesis the definition of 1/f noise is firstly introduced, then the characteristic of 1/f noise, and further the processing of 1/f noise, including the synthesis and analysis of 1/f noise. Six chapters are included in this thesis:Chapter 1. (Introduction) In this chapter the significance, origination and development of 1/f noise and its research tools and contents are mainly discussed.Chapter 2. (The definition and characteristic of 1/f noise) In this chapter 1/f noise is defined in the view of Mathematics and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) respectively. Its characteristic, self-familiarity and long-time dependence, is then introduced. Its mechanism is analyzed.Chapter 3. (The generator model of 1/f noise) In this chapter the physical generator model, RL line model and filter model, is firstly introduced, then the DSP model, including MA model, FBW model. At last a new 1/f noise generating method, the presentation of 1/f noise based on orthonomal wavelet bases, is given. The advantages and disadvantages of these models are concluded, and their simulation is given.Chapter 4. (The restoration of 1/f noise and its application in image processing) In this chapter parameters estimate method of 1/f noise, Most Likelihood Estimate method, is firstly introduced, then the application of 1/f noise in image processing. At last a new method of the restoration of 1/f noise added with white noise using wavelet filter is given.Chapter 5. (The application of 1/f noise in other fields) In this chapter the application of 1/f noise in communication as a modulation signal is firstly introduced, then the application in music synthesis and its prospective applications.Chapter 6. (Conclusion) In this chapter the thesis is concluded and what I had done in this project is emphasized.
