There are28Labs in Zhejiang College of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SHUFE). More and more teachers and students proceed research and practical teaching in these Labs via reservation. In addition, there is lots of other activities need to apply Labs as studio, such as academic competition, international training and qualification test, which induces a heavy Lab reservation management business. At present, the Lab reservation management is conducted by Lab staff manually, which is an inefficient method. Managing reservation manually always means less normal operations and more resource wasted, and unreliable transaction documents as well. In consequence, to solve problems mentioned above, an efficient, practicable, normal Lab reservation management system is imperative. With the lab reservation management of Zhejiang College of SHUFE as background, the relevant state of the art of lab reservation management is briefly reviewed. Aiming to work out the exiting problem of lab reservation management, a whole set of informationization solution is proposed. In addition, contributions and significances of the solution are illustrated. We first present the design objective of the lab reservation management system, then the requirements analysis of this system is figured out in detail including business requirement, functional requirement, data requirement and non-functional requirement. Furthermore, the corresponding business flow chart, use case diagram and Concept of class diagram are proposed, and the use case description is also involved. In the system design stage, the overall design and the module design are conducted including class scheduling and class information selecting, new class application, lab reservation application, practice course management, system configuration and system management. Functional chart, class diagram, sequence diagram and transaction flow chart of these modules are both presented. The design details are elaborated carefully, and the database design is fulfilled by using entity class diagram, E-R diagram and data table structure. Finally, a conclusion is conducted and the future work is introduced. The designed Lab reservation management system satisfies the requirement of Lab reservation business and will decrease the manpower overhead, material resources and cost significantly. The implementation of the Lab reservation management system is ongoing in line with the predefined schedule. The development of this system is less difficult thanks to the standard and rational design and modeling.
