Wireless sensor networks are currently a hot research field, which have been widely applied to various fields. In wireless sensor networks, the main task of sensor node is to collect and store data, and to transfer data to the sink through multi-hop way. However, it brings enormous challenges to data transmission for the reason of the limited sensor node energy and unreliable wireless links. Therefore, efficient and reliable routing protocol is one of the key technologies of wireless sensor networks. This paper design a Network Coding and Ant Colony Optimization-Based Multipath Routing Protocol(NCA_BMR) for wireless sensor networks, which improves the efficiency of network energy, balances the load of network energy, and also improves the reliability of the data transfer process.First, both disjoint multipath routing model and braid multipath routing model are established, and then the network coding is applied to these two routing model. Through the simulation analysis and calculation it can be found that the relatively rate is largely incressed and data redundancy is well controlled in the high channel bit error rate of network. Then the author introduces a kind of ant colony optimization, establishes a Network Coding and Ant Colony Optimization-Based Multipath Routing protocol based on the network coding and multipath routing model, which improves the traditional ant colony algorithm pheromone update mode, considers the energy consumption, delay, congestion, etc., making the network energy more efficient, and network load more balanced. Detailed routing design includes the source node coding, routing discovery, intermediate coding, sink node decoding. Finally, the NS2 and Matlab simulate NCA_BMR routing model, which verify energy efficiency and transmission reliability of NCA_BMR.
