With the time goes on, wireless communication technology gets a fast development. Developing devices working in millimeter wave frequency has been a growing trend, and must be the main emphasis in future. Under such circumstances, this paper proposed a new substrate integrated waveguide(SIW).The study of this paper aimed at this kind of technology, and the characteristics and structure of SIW was introduced in detail. According to different applications, this paper focused on the design procedures of two different kinds of SIW. One of them is perceptual window SIW band-pass filter in Ka frequency, while the other is HMSIW band-pass filter in Ku frequency. Following is the main research work and achievement:The main contents of this thesis are listed as follows:1、Taking the advantage of the similarity between SIW and traditional waveguide, this paper gave an analysis of the structure and transmission performance of SIW. Several frequently-used ways for transformation between SIWs and microstrip lines were introduced in detail. On this basis and with reference to the practical application, stepped impedance converter was chosen to design SIW filter in Ka frequency. Cone SIW-microstrip line converter was chosen in Ku frequency and the two variables Lt and Wt was optimized, in order to minimize the reflection loss of transition structure in required band.2、Basing on the filter design theory and combining SIW technique, we designed a SIW filter using the perceptual metal window structure. To make the volume of SIW smaller, HMSIW was adopted in the design process of metal hole filter in Ku frequency. For the metal hole filter, a FORTRAN program adopting dichotomy was written to figure out those sizes. Physical processing and testing were done to verfity the design theory and design method.3、This paper analysed the influence of several key factors. After comparing the actual test results and simulation results, this paper diagnosed the problems and provided solutions.
