The Internet of things is the physical objects seamlessly integrated into the information network, a kind of intelligent network to facilitate the management and identification. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is one of the most important networking technologies. In the recent decade, the Internet of things was developing rapidly, a variety of technology continues to improve and mature. The application cost has been reduced continuously. Now the Internet of things has been widely used in various fields, such as traffic, environmental protection and energy conservation, government agencies, industry supervision, global security, home furnishing security, food security and health care and so on, which greatly improves the efficiency of production and management, improve the quality of the products.Semiconductor is a global rapidly development industry in recent half of century, semiconductor chip was continuously improve the degree of integration. The manufacturing process was switching gradually to the small batch of lots and more devices, further more. Semiconductor manufacturing is a process of capital intensive and highly complex. Semiconductor assembly and test process was facing the risk of flowing serious problem for a long time, which are using the wrong equipments, using wrong tools, using the wrong materials, product mix and other problems. These problems become the bottleneck of semiconductor assembly and test production management.Taiji Semiconductor (Suzhou) CO., Ltd. Is an assembly and test outsourcing company in Semiconductor industry, Wuxi Taiji Industry Co., Ltd. acquired EEMS (Suzhou) Pte. Ltd. in December 2012 from Italy’s EEMS Group. This acquisition is to achieve the business strategy of expansion to semiconductor industry from textile and textile machinery industry. EEMS (Suzhou) Pte. Ltd. was established in 2005 by EEMS Group Italy (formerly TI Italy), which migrated the semiconductor assembly and testing plant to Suzhou due to pressures of competition and cost.This paper believes that, Taiji Semiconductor (Suzhou) CO., Ltd already have a complex and powerful manufacturing execution system (MES). By introducing the application of RFID technology of the Internet of things, the MES system is able to enhance to control of the production machine in some way. This solution will solve the problem from root cause of using the wrong equipment, using the wrong tool, using the wrong material and product mix etc. It will greatly reducing the reject rate of semiconductor assembly and test, improve product quality, reduce the operating costs of company, enhance the competitiveness of company.By introduction the history and development of the Internet of things, as well as analysis the technology of internet of things and its RFID application, this paper adopt the concept applying internet of things into semiconductor assembly and test industry. Then by analyzing the production management process of traditional semiconductor assembly test, which leads the bottleneck problem faced by semiconductor assembly and test. It provide an audacious solution by introduce internet of things into semiconductor assembly and test to realize the intelligent of Production Management System after the root cause problem analysis. It also describes how RFID import into the MES system perfectly and control the production equipment, further to control the whole production line.Finally, this paper carry out general analysis in comprehensively of cost, benefit, competition advantage areas after implement the RFID into management of assembly and test, as well as comparison with existing solutions. It is to strengthen the necessity of applying the usage of internet of things into assembly and test production.This article believes that, the usage of the Internet of things technology will be more and widely, especially in semiconductor assembly and test industry, by reduces gradually the cost of internet of things application and improve the technology of internet of thing. The usage of Internet of things can be expand gradually from the high profits of manufacturing industry to the thin profit industry, It will result improve production and management efficiency, improve product the quality of the manufacturing industry fundamentally, Finally further improve our living standard.
