The album, books and other replicas which are publicated by art museum aredifferent with real works in the size, color and texture usually. Moreover, thesereplicas based on a photographer’s subjective decisions don’t reflect the complexinterplay between the lighting, work of art, and observer. In the real scene, thelighting and object’s spectrum and the observer’s geometric position determineobject’s appearance, so, the interaction between the lighting, object and observermust be considered in the digital imaging. The digital imaging is divided into five segments: digital imaging capture;archiving; conservation; restoration; and reproduction. Multispectral imagingbased on BRDF model requires that objects’ geometry and spectral characteristics areobtained in three-dimensional space and objects’ surface color and texture arecaptured so as to reproduce objects’ appearance on specified observation conditionrealistically. The solution draws upon computer graphics, an applied area of computerscience resulting in synthetic imagery. This requires a geometric description ofobjects in the scene: the location, geometry, strength of light sources in the scene; adescription of how surfaces in the scene reflect and scatter incident light; and thelocation of the detector or observer. Having this information and defining specificconditions, one can render the art object realistically using a variety of computergraphics techniques. In this thesis, a method bases on imaging to measure the object’s BRDF valuehas been put on, a four-parameter model be choosed from the many BRDF model, theimaging measured method is low cost, high efficiency. It can correctly reflect themethod of the reflection characteristic of the object surface. It can be used for thereconstruction of the two-dimensional surface of the object, and providing thematerial information. This article combining BRDF data and Phong model do some sutdy on graphicreproduction of the paintings. the model algorithm is simple, capable of simulatingthe lighting effects in different angles, but the model can not show surface geometric details. Therefore, an exact reproduction of the image to be studied further.
