Our country is a ancient civilization that has five thousands years history andcenturies-old civilization. In particular, the traditional Chinese painting art is thecultural treasure of the Chinese nation. Correlational research about traditionalChinese painting art can help inherit and carry forward the Chinese glorious historycivilization. However, because of the influence of environment and people, physicaldisplay often lead to varying degrees of oxidation and damage of traditional Chinesepainting art, so the digitization about color and texture for Chinese painting hassignificant value. The digitization of Chinese painting focuses on showing the colorand texture veritably. Multispectral imaging technology for color reproduction basedon the BRDF method can acquire the geometry and spectral characteristic of materialin3D space, at the same time, it also can collect the information about color andtexture of objects’ surface. So that this method can serve the measurement andcalculation of reflected characteristic about target object. What’s more, more andmore BRDF models which are applied to different reflected objects are put forward,After decades of development, these models improved gradually. So the real colorreproduction about artwork depends on BRDF method has the vast prospects forresearch and development.The thesis utilizing the BRDF definition combines with the theory ofcolorimetry and radiometry to deduce the mathematical expression of BRDF, thenestablish the quantitative relationship between BRDF and spectral reflectance,thereby utilizing BRDF to replace the reflectance to reconstruct the color tristimulusvalues of GretagMacbeth24ColorChecker. After this, the thesis compares thetristimulus values that are reconstructed using BRDF method with the values that aremeasured using the PR-715radiation spectrophotometer, and analysis theCIEDE2000color difference.This paper collect the BRDF information about Chinese traditional painting artquantitatively. After processing the experimental result, a conclusion can be knowthat chrominance component among the color information of ideal diffuse object isnot change, except for the luminance component. Then radiance of every color piece of Chinese traditional painting art is fitted using the binomial Gaussian function andHSI color space is used to separate and process the chrominance component andluminance component, then the Gaussian function expression is utilized again toreconstruct the every color piece of painting art under different luminance direction.The evaluating results indicated that BRDF and radiance information matchingmethod can reconstruct and calculate the color and reflected information of targetbetter. This method also can measure reflect information of the dimension aboutspectrum and space, it has higher feasibility and reliability, and has higher guidingmeaning for color reconstruction of3D object. This method will has importantpractical application value for reconstruction and reproduction of the digital culturalheritage for painting art.
