With the rapid development of IT technology in recent years, the rapid spread and popularity of the application of information technology in many industries such as e-commerce platform shows that the information technology plays an important role in various industries. And as the large data generates in the production process in many aeras, the storage technology for large data is required by people a lot. Many software companies and personal developers want to work out the storage appliances with higher quality, lower cost and higher security."NAS"(network attached storage) was brought out in1996, and by development of "NAS",it’s possible to have a viable solution that can implement the storage for large data successfully. This paper demostrates how to implement the NAS system based on FreeBSD (Berkley Software Distribution). And we introduce the knowledge closely related to the implementation of a NAS, and describe the specific contents as well as follows:Around the implementation of NAS based on FreeBSD system, the paper demonstrates the thinking of GUI part of system design, from the points of view of hardware and software and the system availability, and the architecture of both the system’s software and the hardware, and also introduces the file type’s very poplar in these years.Based on the implementation of part of the FreeBSD system, this paper describes the details about the structure of the GUI software system, module design, and the design based on both Python language and the Django framework of the GUI as well.Author introduced the test tool for the NAS system test, named NetBench7.03, and measure the performance of the NAS verified the competence of NAS network performance by a quatitive approach of using the test tool.Proposed several solutions of optimization for NAS system’s performance, and predicts the trend of development on NAS based on FreeBSD.
