With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, broadbandwireless network has been confronted with double challenges that the number of userssurges and higher quality of media services is required by them continuously. As for thenetwork intermediate system, it has been the mainstream technology to construct the QoSarchitecture of uniform multi-service IP bearer network based on MPLS DiffServ-TE,which combines the superiority of IP and ATM technology. While for the network endsystem, it has been the trend with the development of integrative access of wired andwireless terminals. Cross-layer design is an effective way to to guarantee end-to-end QoSin the broadband wireless network access and end system.In this paper, cross-layer QoS architecture and key technologies of broadbandwireless network is put forward, which specifically includes four aspects as follows: First,with the study on the architecture model of traditional QoS, an open and evolutionarymodel of cross-layer adaptive QoS architecture in broadband wireless network; Second, bystudying the theory ofcross-layer optimization and resource scheduling of wirelessnetworks, an intelligent cross-layer optimization model, which is consistent with existinglayered network architecture and adapts to the next-generation integrated network, isproposed; Third, research on the guarantee mechanisms of cross-layer adaptive QoS inwireless video services is presented. Simulation and verification of related QoS strategiesare performed by using NS2. Finally, through the analysis about the QoS issues ofSIP-based VoIP system, VoIP embedded terminals based on SIP protocol are designed andimplemented. And related algorithms and QoS strategies are identified.It is a fundamental issue to provide effective QoS guarantee mechanisms ofmultimedia communication applications in broadband wireless network. The study canpromote the theory and technique of related fields, while the project results can be widelyused for various wireless network systems and applications. It is of great significance topromote the "Three Networks Convergence"and establish an integrated broadband networkcommunication system.
