As a variety of digital mobile TV standards is being deployed and applied in more and more countries, the concept of multi-functional mobile entertainment platform is rising gradually. By using multimedia handheld devices to watch satellite TV has become the latest trend and the mobile TV reception system is in great demand. In order to increase the user's flexibility and create considerable economic benefits for the manufacturers of multimedia terminal equipments, the researching of multi-standards receivers will be the next hot spot. Currently, the digital multimedia broadcasting market which using in the personal mobile terminals grows as rapid as the multi-standards, such as DAB, DMB-T, DVB-H, CMMB et al. The rising of these standards promotes the needs of designing low cost, low power, small size baseband circuitry in the integrated mobile digital TV chip. This paper presents layout simulated results of an analog baseband chain for mobile and multimedia applications in 0.13um CMOS process. A programmable 7th-order chebyshev low pass filter with calibration circuit is used in the analog baseband chain, and the programmable bandwidth was 1.8/2.5/3/3.5/4MHz with an attenuation of 26/62 dB at offsets of 1.25/4 MHz. The baseband programmable gain amplifier (PGA) can achieve a linear 40-dB gain range in 0.5-dB steps. Design trade-offs are carefully considered in designing the baseband circuit, DC offset cancellation loop is also introduced to remove the offset from layout and self-mixing, and the remaining offset voltage is only 1.87 mV. Implemented in a 0.13μm CMOS technology, this baseband achieves IIP3 of 23.16 dBm and dissipate 28.4 mA under 2.5-V supply. The layout area is about 1.12 mm~2.
