With the coming age of 3G, smart phone gradually enters into the ordinary people's life, and provides them with a lot of convenient services. Nowadays, people's sense of safety precaution is being enhanced, at the same time, the concern about safeguard for the elderly, children and some special groups is being raised, along with the widely used of various location technologies in smart phone, the application of personal SOS service based on smart phone has been widespread concerned.Android platform is one of a hot point in the field of smart phone, it is characterized by openness, extensible of software and hardware, and can provide the developers a powerful function of map display and control. A SOS system based on Android platform is designed and realized in this paper. This system takes content and delivery method of SOS message as the key point, implements a convenient and reliable mobile SOS service by using some functions of smart phone, such as communication, positioning, multimedia, internet and so on. The main work in this paper is shown as follows:1) In order to make up the current deficiency of SOS system in cell phone, an improved method is proposed. On the one hand, by adding positioning information and auxiliary explanations in SOS message, the system will become more practicable. On the other hand, the system will become more reliable through using various ways of sending message.2) This thesis researches on characteristics, structure and design thought of the application about the Android platform, through analysising the technologies of positioning, multimedia and message, clarified the functional requirements of the SOS system.3) A design scheme of the SOS system based on the component is proposed. The designment of SOS system is combining with the component model of the Android platform. which contains grammar, interaction and deployment. In addition, a message-oriented cooperation mechanism of components is proposed, in order to insure that the result of the information collection can be submitted on time, when the components used for collection have completed the relevant operation orders, they will make a notification to activate the components used for sending SOS messages, and then the system will create a new process to execute this task, thereby enhance the efficiency of sending links.4) According to the stratified thought, the SOS system is divided into presentation layer, data acquisition layer, sending layer and data layer. This logical architecture includes the structure of the components in each layer, and the interaction among layers. The SOS system can implement many functions, such as self-positioning, capturing location messages, binding multiple contacts as message target, gathering information about the scene, automatic editing and sending SOS messages, path tracking, etc.
