With the development of theory of study domain and information technology, E-Learning, as a new study way, becomes more and more popular rapidly. And the most popular and effective one in E-Learning is web-based E-Learning.PHP(Hypertext Preprocessor), the abbreviation of English hypertext preprocessing language, is a server-side implementation embedded scripting language of the HTML document. In the areas of programming, PHP language is preferred to programmers for its unique expression and powerful function. PHP language with its free, open source, fast, cross-platform, high efficiency features, becomes the first choice of many small, medium and large web site. This thesis combines the actual situation of computer foundation courses education, and analysis the requirements, and design and implementation of Web-based E-Learning system with the software engineering design methods.This thesis is mainly researching on an E-Learning based self-learning system of PHP language. With large-scale investigation and reading of a lot of materials, the thesis firstly introduces the application situation at home and abroad of E-Learning system, and summarizes their main characteristics, and also introduces the main technology to establishing this system. Based on the analysis of PHP language self-learning needs, makes an overall design of the E-learning based system. The system adopted B/.S system architecture, and makes web page design, the corresponding function design and connection of database be independent, in the way the system interface and the background process function also becomes independent, this work makes the system updating easier. The thesis designs and realizes the Role-Based Access control module, so that all learning material can be protected according permissions, and achieves the learning material module, forum module and background management module with donet technology. At last, the thesis summarizes the author's work, points out the advantages and disadvantages, and gives the expected improving work in the future.
