Terahertz wave is the electromagnetic wave with frequency range from 0.1THz to 10THz, and wavelength range from 3mm to 30um. It's a very important research domain recognized by the domestic and overseas academic circles nowadays. Because of its unusual properties such as high frequency, high bandwidth, short pulse time, and good penetrability for nonmetal objects, terahertz technology can be widely used in environment monitoring, medical diagnosis, safety inspection, antiterrorist detection, radar detection, satellite communication and objects imaging. The Terahertz frequency is a new frequency resource for radar technology, full of research and utilization value. Combined terahertz wave's high bandwidth with LFMCW radar's high resolution and low transmit power, the American and German researchers have already developed THz imaging radar experimental systems successfully, and realized high resolution imaging. As domestic researches on terahertz devices have already achieved some results currently, it's necessary to carry out researches on teraheratz radar at system level.This dissertation takes charge of the research and implementation of IF receiver in a terahertz LFMCW radar experimental system. The main research work and results can be summarized as follows:1. Analyzed the parameters of the IF receiver according to the system structure, and designed the solution.2. Analyzed the parameters of quadrature demodulator, A/D converter, FPGA, and data transfer rate, chose appropriate chips and devices, and accomplished the hardware circuit design.3. Accomplished the FPGA software design and simulation, realized the trigger signal for source devices, valid receiving time control, decimation FIR filter, FFT and communication between FPGA and PCI device.4. Accomplished the host computer program design, realized controlling the IF receiver, data transfer and storing.5. Accomplished the debugging of hardware and software, tested the IF receiver's performance alone and in experimental system. The research and experiments'results indicate that the IF receiver is coincident with the terahertz LFMCW radar experimental system's demand in function, and the main parameters of the IF receiver reach the system's design demand.IF receiver which is a important part of the terahertz LFMCW radar experimental system, has significant research value.
