Computer developing many years, every computer was installed one or many operation systems.With Principles of Operating Systems as a compulsory course, desktop operating systems of computer becomes an essential part for students of computer and relevant specialties in colleges or universities at home and abroad. Specialties such as abstractness and transparency make the course hard to comprehend for learners, not to say grasping its essence. Most learners say that they can neither grasp the main points nor integrate theories with the working mechanics of the operating systems. It makes teaching effects not good enough that traditional experiments can only estimate the kernel's execution conditions by commands, which cannot show intuitively the kernel's operating conditions. One cannot really understand the spirit of operating systems even he has achieved a fairly good score in a test, not to say research in desktop operating systems in his succeeding work.To deal with this problem, this thesis majors in designing a soft ware that demonstrates the main functions of operating system. The software which is written by Java can meet the needs of teaching by making visual the scheduling process of procedures equipments memories and files. The software solves the problem well in teaching by an intrinsic operable main function simulating platform. Users can adjust the parameters of it and replicate systems functions with the software integrated in a multimedia experiment platform. Thus users can turn know ledges in textbooks into reality, which helps them to learn theoretical know ledges better, deepen their comprehension of operating system and really see through the inner the it. That is to achieve many things at one stroke.
