The 21st century is a new century with full of magic color and hope, which is also full of challenge and competition. With fast development of science and technology, and rapid arrival of and knowledge economy, as well as the extensive use of information technology, the educational competition becomes increasingly intensified. If education can not adapt to the new situation, the education itself will not develop well, and it will hinder the step of human society in the new century. Many developed countries has competed in the development of superior education and training talents. As we know, the competitiveness of a country depends largely on the quantity and quality of talent, so a large number of high-quality talents are an inexhaustible motive force for national development and source. The famous French writer Victor Hugo said that, "The key to open the treasury of human wisdom are three:one is the number, one is the text, one is the music." Music is not only an entertainment art, but also is a kind of art of beauty, which plays an irreplaceable role in training talents. It not only can mould sentiment and enlighten wisdom, but also can shape individual perfect character and train individual creative spirit. Thus, it is the historical mission and responsibility for higher music education to develop our nation's music education, and train high-level music talents. Undergraduate entrance examination of music selecting music art talents is the approach for higher music education to train excellent music talents. Therefore, the paper preliminary discusses the undergraduate entrance examination of music, so as to use the little to get the big.At present, the systematic analysis and research of the undergraduate entrance examination of music is still a new research subject. The paper based on 2009 admission brochures of all types of music academies (including independent music colleges, normal music colleges and comprehensive music colleges) applies literature method and interview method to study the source, college, major, system, purpose, method and content of the undergraduate entrance examination of higher music academies. It aims to propose a set of correct, reasonable, uniform regulation of the undergraduate entrance examination of music, and to offer the rules faithfully observed in the undergraduate entrance examination of music, and to advocate the idea that basic music courses can be implemented national examination, which will monitor the entrance of higher education of music, and promote the development of higher music education. And it will make contribution to managing arts entrance examination system for the education department, and to preparing the examination for majority of students.
