The new High School History Curriculum Standards (Experimental) promulgated by Ministry of Education clearly states three dimensions of curriculum objectives: knowledge and ability, process and method, emotional attitudes and values. It indicates that the reform of history curriculum has made cultivating the students'correct emotional attitudes and values as the core values of history education. It is just the return of the nature of history teaching and the implementation of its original value. The core concept of history curriculum reform is mainly concerned about students. However, the present situation in history teaching is not optimistic. Teachers have reached a roughly mutual understanding on the importance of emotional attitudes and values. But there are still some misconceptions on it: attention is put more on thoughts than actions.Based on the above-mentioned, the paper deals with the problem in three aspects. First of all, the author gives a brief discussion on emotional attitudes and values from its definition to its three dimensions objectives. Secondly, the author analyzes the misconceptions one by one through a large amount of teaching cases. Thirdly, the author put more emphasis on the analysis and discussion of the implementation of emotional attitudes and values in history teaching. In order to achieve this, three areas are involved: the formulation, implementation principles, and implementation methods of teaching aims.It is hoped that this paper can be a good reference for high school history teachers in theory and practice on emotional attitudes and values teaching.
