At present, the focus of China's mathematics education is on how to develop students'creativity on the base of ensuring the "Double Base" and the study on the teaching of open-ended mathematical problems is going towards this direction. The importance of the teaching of open-ended mathematical problems is being recognized by more and more mathematics teachers. It gradually enters the mathematical classes, changing the traditional mode of teaching knowledge-"Concept, Theorem - Example - Practice". It reflects the core idea of the problem-solving in mathematics education and the teaching concept of'priority given to students'. Meanwhile, it is also the right choice of the transition from the traditional authoritive "teaching of knowledge" mode to the "reinforcement learning" one which features the characteristics of students'self study.Based on the previous theory and practice, the author practises and explores the teaching of open-ended mathematicla problem in middle schol. This article is divided into five parts. The first part analyzes all the existing teaching disadvantages and discusses whether the application of the teaching of open-ended mathematical problems can improve classroom teahing effect by means of the survey on the junior middle school students'ability and interest of solving open-ended mathematical problems after researching the status quo of home and abroad on the teaching of open-ended mathematical problems. The second part deals with the definition of the open-ended mathematical problems and the analysis of the characteristics and classification of the open-ended mathematical problems. In the third part, on the basis of relevant studies, the author proposes six principles on the teaching of open-ended mathematical problems: the principle of subjectivity, the principle of the process, the principle of demonstration the principle of openness, flexibility and hierarchy. In accordance with the six principles, the author then puts forward some teaching cases in combination with the four teaching strategies as well as four teaching methods, and the auther presents some teaching cases in combination with the teaching principles, strategies and methods of open-ended problems. The forth part is a teaching experiment on the teaching of open-ended mathematical problems which explores the teaching effect of open-ended mathematical promblems teaching and analyzes its characteristics of classroom teaching compared with the traditional teaching. The experimental results show that the open-ended problems teaching is able to effectively improve the classroom teaching effect. Therefore,it encourages students to think independently and interact cooperatively, have the courage to question and explore. Meanwhile, it not only improves students'ability of thinking in higher level, but also enhances students'confidence and interests in study. The last part is summary and reflection.
