Many colleges have made swimming sport as an elective of college student sport in China.In order to have swimming sport developed constantly in college education,the author made fieldwork and questionnaire investigation about status quo of swimming elective in YueXi area's universities.The author understands status quo of swimming elective in YueXi area's universities by stating and analyzing obtained datum.The author also make an embed investigation about swimming elective of YueXi area's universities teachers and students things,teaching aims,teaching contents,course arrangements,teaching surroundings, examination measures,and so on.In this dissertation,using many methods including literature datum, investigation,mathematical statistics and taking YueXi area' s universities as investigation object,the author investigates the development condition of swimming elective.By settling and analyzing these investigation data,the author makes the following conclusions from the development of swimming elective in YueXi area' s universities.Swimming sport is developed universally in YueXi area's universities.Four universities are developing all sorts of swimming course according to their practicality conditions.One makes swimming as a required course,three make swimming as an elective course.In YueXi area's universities,swimming elective is being developed in stage of steadily and advancement.In YueXi area's universities,the teachers team of swimming elective is young,and this is also a advantage.But the teachers' qualification is low and the teachers' ability of scientific research is not good as a whole.The teachers need to study in judgment grad,at the same time many teachers need to improve in language and teaching methods.In YueXi area's universities,the students who elect swimming is small and the number of these students is not high in the percentage of the number of students in all electives.The teachers teaching swimming are also fewer.The atmosphere that the students take part in swimming exercise and practice out of course is dense,and it is reasonable in times and time of exercise and practice so that teaching activity can get to the aim of exercise.Most of students' study attitude is good,but the method that students obtain swimming knowledge is single.From the investigation of their obtains after class,the author makes an conclusion:most students' aim to study is definitude,and the teachers pay attention to educate the students' practical swimming ability.At present,there are not an uniform teaching outline and teaching material of swimming elective in YueXi areas' colleges,and the colleges printed their teaching outline.The hour assignment is enough,but the arrangement can not satisfy the students' needs in percentage of teaching contents.The teachers ignored the students'reception ability when they compiled teaching plan,and in teaching aim the teachers had localization in understanding it.They only stress to improve the students'swimming skills,strong the students'body.These are not consistent with the students' motive and aim that they want to master lifesaving skills in water,amuse body and mind,and ground sport exercise for life through swimming elective.So there is otherness between the teachers' teaching aim and the students' study aim.Swimming elective are all used class schoolteaching system in.YueXi area' s universities.According to sex and skill,the students are divided into classes.This system is good for the teachers to arrange and manage teaching activities uniformly,and also good for the teachers' teaching aims.It benefits for the students to master acts and skills.It also benefits for the teachers to improve teaching quality.It is universal for swimming teachers to use routine teaching methods during teaching, and small for swimming teachers to use modern teaching methods.The field can satisfy basically swimming teaching needs of swimming elective in YueXi area' s universities,But it is not enough in assistant teaching aids and equipments of teaching.This need to improved.The leaders of colleges pay little attention to swimming elective.At present,the teachers of swimming elective in YueXi area' s universities use diagnosis evaluation methods,formation evaluation methods,summary evaluation methods in Swimming elective But means,methods and indicators of evaluation are single,which need to be improved.The teachers depend on summary evaluation methods too much during the assessment of student achievement in swimming elective.They neglect the action of regular tests,at the same time the form and content of examination is single too.Both the teachers and the students all agreed that the common factors that affect teaching quality of swimming elective in Yuexi area' s universities are the Sports field and equipment,the number of the students,courses,and teaching contents.At that time the teachers believe that the leaders' attention and the students' swimming basis are one aspect of factors that affect teaching quality.
