Geometer's Sketchpad (It is referred to Sketchpad in this article) is a mathematical educational software launched by the Key Curriculum Press in the United States in 1991 . At that time, Sketchpad aimed at improving american students geometry learning (or mathematics learning) situation, increasing intuitive, experimental, fun in mathematics teaching and reducing the difficulty of the learning geometriy . People's Education Press introduce its chinese edition and promote widely in the country . So far, Geometer's Sketchpad has been generally accepted as a tool for teaching mathematics, its role and influence have also been recognized to some degree. But it should be noted that because of the low level of educational software and support from the Government-related agencies, the Sketchpad became the most respected in the promotion process though it is short of the necessary scientific proof and evaluation before its introduction.. It should also be pointed that there are still some problems in application ofketchpad, such as the rational knowledge of the role of Sketchpad are not objective enough, lack of objective, scientific, systematic research, these makes the problems and potential risks which exists in the use of sketchpad neglected. Accordingly, this article tries to give an objective understanding of the process from its introduction to promotion and evalue the role that Sketchpad plays in mathematics teaching through scientific ,analyze and research, furthermore recognize its influence to mathematics teaching. Therefore this article tries to provide a theoritical and practical basis for the application of Sketchpad in the the Teaching of Mathematics.
