| "Pipa Ghost " is translated from the Dai language, in which "Pi" means a ghost, "Pa" is the name of this kind of ghost. It is regarded as the worst and malicious ghost in the Dai minority society. The Dai people think this ghost can be attached to somebody who could harm the village and bring the incident. Therefore they would be drove away from their village. When those people assemble slowly, they establish their own new village which is viewed as a banned community by the normal Dai minority. What is more, it is unable for them to enjoy some social resources and authority at some degree.Up to now, there are not much researches from the point of Ethnology or Anthropology, so this research extremely has the value. First, it is advantageous for people to understand this cultural phenomenon correctly, and know the role of rumor between ethnic groupe and community. It is easy to find the realistic motive of capture the right and the social resources behind these apperances. Through this research, it is helpful to rejet some prejudice to "Pipa Ghost" and make people understand the nature of this phenomenon. On the basis of it, this paper try to restore their normal right and social position in order to promote the harmony of divers communities.With the aid of field work, and according to the literature which has studied, the idea was interpreted from the perspective of rumors. Under the discourse of imagination or accusation ,"Pipa Ghost" plays a certain role in balancing the differences in Dai minority community which is aimed to maintain the social order.The full text was divided into five parts. The first part was the introduction, this part introduced the origin, significance, research methods of this paper, and reviewed the relevant studies about "Pipa Ghost".The second part was the introduction about the origin of "Pipa Ghost" and its natural environment. The "Pipa Ghost" was found in the myth of Dai minority. This myth constructed the common ideology of Dai people to a certain extent. "Pipa Ghost" had become a negative symbol. In the past, miasmal was broken out frequently which is caused by special geography and climat in this aera. However, the Dai people could not know this disease corretly due to lacking of the medical knowledge, as a result, they think that is because of "Pipa Ghost" who did it on purpose.The third part was some ethnographies about the home of "Pipa Ghost" and "Pipa Ghost" community. In the internal communication, "Pipa Ghost" had the same situation with the general Dai family, but because of their special status, their external communication was relatively very small. Generally speaking, "Pipa Ghost" could not enjoy the practice of solidarity, and in the past the normal flow of people between the villages was banned. One "Ghost Village" was chosen as a research point to interpret the circle of marriage which standed for unequality,prejudice and classification.Part four was mainly about the nature of "Pipa Ghost". They were compared with the Miao minority and the Mosuo people, and the difference and distinction were studied. Then from the analysis of the causes of "Pipa Ghost", it was found that "Pipa Ghost" was one of equalizer in Dai minority and helped maintain social stability.The last part was the conclusion. Based on the full text, some points were proposed to improve the situation of "Pipa Ghost". |
