The purpose of writing this thesis is to find out how a picturebook book for children conveys its subject and content in its unique expression. In other words, it looks into how such a book is designed and how all parts of it work together to express the meaning of it. Before the discussion of design for picturebooks, we should be aware of the concept of such a book, its history and development. It helps to start at the origin of it and see it clearly. In the following part, the author investigates the relationship between a picturebook and its audience children. This is to look at the problem from the angle of children, to know the feelings of children and to insist on the viewpoint that those books are for children. Then, the author begins the analysis of picturebooks for children. On the one hand, we can't ignore that there is commonness with other books. On the other hand, we should pay attention to its individual qualities. Based on this point of view, the author analyzes picturebooks in four aspects and try to find out the individuality of successful picturebooks for children. In the last chapter, the author discusses the future of its design, and to bring attention to an issue often neglected—picturebooks designed for the blind children.
