| STS is a hot issue in the research on the education of Primary and Secondary school. It belongs to an interdisciplinary research field, which intergrates science technology and society into teaching. STS stressed the application of the science and technology in society, the links between science and society .On the other hand, it aims to cultivate citizens with scientific qualification, who can know about the achievements in science and technology, who can take an active part in the major social issues related to science and technology. The STS education, as a research subject to choose, aims to explore effective strategy of STS education in the chemistry teaching in Senior middle school.The paper illustrates the theory related to STS education, and with education, psychology and philosophy, points out the theory basic of STS education. On the basis of reference to previous research work, a questionnaire about teachers and students was designed.70teachers and 500 students were investigated. From the current using of STS in chemistry teaching, the teachers'views on STS and their specific practice in teaching work, students'grasp of chemistry knowledge, the future of chemical development, the practical using ability of chemical knowledge, and the views on STS education, the questionnaires were illustrated and analyzed, and the following conclusions were made:(1)The current STS education in chemistry teaching is not given enough attention, the students are not satisfied, so STS education is necessary.(2)Teachers and students had a positive attitude toward STS education, so STS education time in ripe.(3)There still exist some difficulties, such as facilities, the teachers'quality, the current teaching materials, the pressure from the NEMT, and the students'ability to solve the practical problems with their chemistry knowledge is limited. The teaching experiments were designed and implemente based on the survey results: first determine the STS education goals, analyze the STS teaching content in the current high school chemistry textbook and advocate the STS education teaching strategies in the high school chemistry teaching: curricular penetration, STS activities and social practice of the three channels and combined practice by using role playing, research and investigation and experimental operation of teaching methods.After the teaching tests for a semester by the analysis of the questionnaire and the comparison of the examination results, we can conclude: teaching high school chemistry in the implementation of the STS education greatly inspired students to learn chemistry, applied the chemistry interest; raised the students awareness of the technology, practical ability, awareness and cooperation on major social issues of concern .At the same time, the students'marks has been improved. These conclusions provide some useful references for the future in our province for implementing the new curriculum in high school chemistry education for STS. |
