| Education is fatal to the exist and development of the Olympics. It is the educational function that vigorously influence the social peace and improvement. The 2008 Olympic Games will be a great promotion for the youth's education of Olympics. This paper starts with sociology, pedagogy, and the theoretical basis of Olympics. A research of the understanding of the knowledge about Olympics was made among the students in Senior Two in Haidian District, and it analyzed the factors that affect students'understanding of it. According to that, the writer made some suggestions about how to better initiate and push forward to the Olympics.The writer applies documentary style, interviewing style, questionnaire and investigating style, mathematical and statistical style and logical and analytical style. A research was made among 509 students in Senior Two and 58 PE teachers in Haidian District, and a thorough study about the factors that affect students'mastering the Olympic knowledge.Here are the results:The students from Senior Two in Haidian, Beijing know well about the Olympic knowledge. The students from key school and the students from normal school show obvious differences about the Olympics. It mainly shows as the following: the proportion of knowing the birthplace of the Olympics, the modern founder of the Olympics and the Winter Olympics; boy students know the Winter Olympics and the understanding of the Chinese participating in the Olympics better than the girl students; students from cities and those from suburbs (villages) show clear differences about the knowing of the winter Olympics and the knowledge of the ancient Olympics. Students don't know much about other sports in the Olympics.The students from Senior Two in Haidian, Beijing know well about the organization of the Olympic sports system, 94.9 percent of the students know the committee of the Olympic organization is the highest authorizing organization, 80.2 percent of them know that the organization of the Olympics consists of three pillars and the committee of the Olympics. The students from Senior Two in Haidian, Beijing fairly know a lot about the Olympic idea. Their understanding about the implication of the Olympics accords with the spirit of the Olympics, but different schools have quite different understanding for its motto. Students from key schools and cities know better about the spirit of the Olympics.The students from Senior Two in Haidian, Beijing pay much attention to the 2008 Olympic Games. Being volunteers is most of the students'ideal and they are willing to contribute to the Olympics in action.Students have an active attitude to learn the knowledge about Olympics. The factor that affects students'understanding is mainly depends on how much they love sports; their attention to Olympic Games; When they know about the Olympics; Sports activities that schools starts; the Olympic knowledge that teachers teach; P.E. teachers'motivation; how the multimedia such as TV spread the knowledge of Olympics.Sports activities should be started in the suburban areas; P.E. teachers should be encouraged to attend lectures on Olympics; Olympics knowledge should be added in students'textbooks; The evaluation for the knowing of the Olympic knowledge should be inserted in the class for sports theory. More selective courses should be started in middle schools; the Olympic knowledge should be spreaded in a large scale. |
