New curriculum reform has been carried out in Liaoning province since the autumn of 2006.The complete implementation of the new curriculum calls for the higher level of the teachers'education rational, teaching competence as well as research and creative competence. Textbook is the key achievement of curriculum reform, the specificity of the curriculum, and the main tool of teaching and learning. How high school teachers make creative use of new textbooks under the guidance of the new curriculum is urgent to solve, thus to carry out the teaching task effectively. The character of the new high school chemistry textbook (obligatory, People's Education Press ) is analyzed based on the new curriculum from every angle in the paper based on the new curriculum. Understanding of the aims of the new curriculum, dealing with the teaching contents, building the learning styles of the students, experiment teaching and teaching examples etc. are discussed in the paper in order to do research into the use of new chemistry textbook, meanwhile the problems revealed in the practice of the new textbooks are also analyzed and discussed. The paper provides reference for high school chemistry teachers, and practical materials for the further research of new textbooks.
