It is a crucial period for students to study maths in the first year of Senior Middle school. Because of the changes in learning content, teaching demands, teaching modes, thinking levels, and study methods, students in Grade One, especially in an ordinary school, have difficulty in studying maths in this period and they usually get low scores. So connecting maths in Junior Middle School with the one in Senior Middle School is the key link in adapting students to studying maths in Senior Middle School. This paper analyses the difficulty Grade One students have in studying maths through tests, questionnaires, and case analyses and the paper also discusses the strategy of connecting maths in Junior Middle School with the one in Senior Middle School from the aspects of students'psychology, maths knowledge, maths language and teaching and learning methods.
