Our College Athletic Sports Fostering Sustainable Development Research

As one new model of human civilization evolution, sustainable development has become the basic theme of economy and society in our country. Colleges and universities, the base for the talents, must also obey to the sustainable rule so as to assure the continuous development of both of them and the society. Athletics is one important party of the higher education. The work of building and developing excellent athletic teams must likewise take the sustainable way as so to adapt the higher education reformation. Although the excellent athletic teams of colleges and universities have obtained some achievements and experiences since 1986, their level doesn't still reach the aim that the athletic talents cultivated in colleges and universities are capable to attend international matches and get good achievements. Now the problem that the excellent athletic teams in colleges and universities lack sustaining force has become prominent. Our colleges and universities should become the centers to cultivate athletic talents, and must take the task. Basing on the viewing angle of the sustainable development as well as the data method, the expert-visit method, the questionnaire method, and comparative-investigation method, the sources (including the rules for recruiting students, the ratio of different athletic students, the cultivated years and level), cultivation (including the management, exercitation and game) and future-employment of athletic talents, in addition to their drillmasters, equipments, logistic guarantee, and outlay, are detailed analyzed. The visited (or investigated) objects include the leader of 20 colleges or universities dominated by the Education Ministry, coaches of athletic talents, and talent sportsman from Peking, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Jiangsu. By comparing with the cultivation system of developed countries, the factors effecting the athletic talents cultivation of our colleges and universities and one new system suitable to the athletic-talent cultivation are put forward and discussed. The new system will be very helpful for our collages and universities to cultivate more excellent sportsmen able to join national or international matches and obtain good achievements, to bring our higher athletic education into benign and healthy roadway, to win honour for my country in Olympiad, and to make our colleges and universities to really become the bases and cradles for athletic talents.
