Confucian Integrity Of Thought And Sportsmanship

The ubiquitous loss of honesty and truth has brought great challenges to the healthy and harmonious development of sports. With the aim of the sustainable development of sports, this research strives to advance countermeasures to improve the construction of sports ethics by analyzing and studying relative theories and problems concerning Confucian ideology of faith and sports ethics through literature review, logical analysis and expert interviews. The conclusions of this pilot research include the followings:1. The loss of honesty and truth in sports includes: loss results from political factors, backward sports institution and players' loss of honesty.2. Confucian ideology of faith is the core of sports ethic construction. Honesty is the prerequisite of the way players conduct themselves in society, the guide line for the communication of sports culture and the precondition of the management of sports.3. The analysis of the Confucian ideology of faith's stimulus to the construction of sports ethics: Confucian ideology of faith helps to the building up of correct outlooks of life and values, the molding of human dignity of players, the cultivation of honest sports ethics and responsibilities and the formation of inspiring sports atmosphere.4. The sports spirit under current situation has endowed Confucian ideology of faith with new features. Traditional sports ethics should be transformed into modern ones.5. The construction of sports ethic system in vision of Confucian ideology of faith: proper view on morality and interest should be the criteria for the decision of sports ethics, courtesy should be the external displays of honest sports morality, the esteem of high morality should be the pursuit of sports values, Confucian ideology of faith should be the essential way for sports morality cultivation and essential method for sports ethic education. Confucian self-discipline is an important part of the construction of sports ethics.The innovative achievement of this research consists in the deep exploitation of the effects that Confucian ideology of faith has on the construction of sports ethic system. The original conception brought out in this paper is: Confucian ideology of faith should be modernized in order to adapt to the development of modern sports.
