Career Education And Its Revelation Of Our High School

How to counsel teenagers to live a meaningful life based on a clear knowledge of themselves, career and society remains the focus of career education in our time when economy and society develops fast and career changes constantly. Under the background of China's eighth curriculum reform in basic education area, the practice of "career education" in regular high schools will strengthen the relationship between schooling and society and hence to promote teenagers' all-around development.This paper consists of four parts. This first part mainly differentiates and analyses such important concepts as "career education" , "profession guidance" and "vocational education" , and then concludes the connotation of career education in our regular high schools.By comparative study, the second part introduces the current development of career education in America, Britain, German, Chinese Taiwan and Mainland, hence summing up the main characteristics and tendency of modern career education development.The third part analyses the necessity to practice career education in our regular high schools from two aspects: one is that career education can counsel regular high school students to conduct career exploration and resolve their contradiction on social roles; the other is that career education can deepen the new curriculum reform in basic education area and promote the development of regular high schools and students' all-round characters.The last part discusses the validity to enhance career education in regular high schools from such aspects as fundamental principles, main contents, fundamental models and guarantees in accordance with the situation of our country by seizing the opportunity of curriculum reform and on the carrier of school-based curriculum.
